Before Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana, this Actor Played Both Lord Ram & Parshuram On-Screen
In less than 10 days, we'll witness the release of the biggest and the most expensive Indian film yet – Ramayana.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwary of Dangal fame, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role of Lord Ram and besides that he will also be seen playing Lord Parshuram in a key sequence.
Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor won't be the first star to play both the avatars of Lord Vishnu on-screen.
Before Ranbir, veteran actor Nitish Bharadwaj who is well known for playing Lord Krishna in BR Chopra's Mahabharat
The project in question is the mythological TV show Vishnu Puran (2000) where Nitish was seen as Lord Ram as well as Parshuram who cross path during Sita's Swayamvara.
Sita's father King Janaka had laid a simple rule that whoever will lift and string the divine bow of Lord Shiva known as the Pinaka will be the perfect suitor for his daughter.
Lord Ram not only lifts it with ease while stringing it, but he also manages to break it.
This enrages Lord Parshuram as he confronts Ram over breaking of Shiva's bow.
The Ramayana trailer gives a glimpse of this scene briefly.
