Bihars Humar Magadh Seminar Highlights Cultural Heritage Ahead of Pitripaksha Mela

Gaya, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : The 'Humar Magadh' seminar took place in Gaya, Bihar, on September 19, 2026, just before the Pitripaksha Mela. Organized by the district administration, the seminar aimed to connect the historical and cultural identity of Gaya and Magadh with the younger generation. Experts and scholars discussed various topics, including Magadh's glorious history, rich heritage, education, culture, spiritual traditions, art, literature, music, and the Magahi language.The event featured a series of sessions where speakers highlighted the relevance of Magadh’s legacy in today's context. Dr. Manish Sinha and Professor Sudhanshu Jha elaborated on the historical and cultural background of Magadh. Dr. Ram Krishna Mishra focused on the region's educational traditions and cultural values, while Swami Venkateshwaranacharya Maharaj discussed Magadh's spiritual heritage and its unique identity. Additionally, Pandit Rajendra Sijuar, Professor K.K.Narayan, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sinha (Ravi) examined the area's artistic, literary, and musical traditions. Dr. Sachchidanand Premi emphasized the characteristics of the Magahi language, its sweetness, and its deep connection to local life. Youth engagement was a highlight of the seminar, with five selected students sharing their perspectives on Magadh’s history and cultural knowledge. The event stressed the importance of transmitting historical and cultural heritage beyond books to the new generation.District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar addressed attendees in Magahi, expressing pride in discussing the region's culture and language. He noted that Magadh has a golden history, with the grandeur of Pataliputra and the knowledge legacy of Nalanda influencing the world. He emphasized that the Magahi language is intertwined with the identity and values of its people, calling for efforts to promote education and create new opportunities for its preservation and enhancement.Following the seminar, a cultural program showcased performances by music teacher Ashutosh, local artists, and students from GD Goenka School and Gurukul Music School. They presented songs, Bihar folk dances, and other cultural acts, vividly illustrating the local heritage. The event concluded with certificates awarded to participants and collaborating artists, followed by a rendition of the Bihar song. According to the district administration, the 'Humar Magadh' seminar aimed to raise awareness about Magadh's historical, cultural, and linguistic heritage among visitors and local youth before the Pitripaksha Mela.
