Childs Death After Eating Sweets Raises Concerns Over Food Safety in Madhya Pradesh
Ratlam, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : A troubling incident has emerged from Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh, where a two-and-a-half-year-old boy tragically died after consuming sweets. This event has raised significant concerns regarding food quality and the effectiveness of the food safety department. The incident occurred in the village of Binoli, where Aryan, the son of Jitendra Goswami, passed away.
Family members reported that after eating the sweets, several family members fell ill. Aryan succumbed to his condition while receiving treatment at a government hospital in Mandsaur, where his parents are also being treated. This heartbreaking situation has prompted serious questions about the quality of food products and the operations of the food safety department. Concerns have previously been raised in the Jawra area regarding the alleged trade of fake milk. This incident begs the question: why are regular inspections of food products not conducted? Will the administration only respond after a major incident occurs? With the festive season approaching, the sale of sweets in markets is expected to surge. It is imperative for the district administration and the food safety department to initiate an intensive inspection campaign. They should collect samples from sweet shops, milk vendors, and other food establishments for laboratory testing. There is a strong demand for a fair investigation into the matter. The true causes of this tragedy must be revealed, and if contamination or adulteration is confirmed, stringent legal actions should be taken against those responsible. Public health must not be compromised under any circumstances. Food safety officer Jyoti Baghel has already visited the shop to conduct sampling. Further actions will depend on the results of the tests. In light of this incident, Jivan Singh Sherpur, the chief of the Karni Sena, has called for accountability from the food department on social media, demanding a thorough investigation and action regarding the child's death.
