Chinese President Xi Jinping Visits the U.S. for State Dinner Hosted by Trump

Washington, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : Chinese President Xi Jinping is currently visiting the United States. On Thursday evening, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will host Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at a state dinner at the White House. The menu promises a fusion of American ingredients with Chinese flavors. The dinner will take place in the East Room.According to information released by the First Lady's office, the event will also include business leaders and government officials alongside the official delegation. Melania Trump has been overseeing the preparations for this significant occasion. The dinner will kick off with a toast featuring Schramsberg 'Blanc de Noir,' an American sparkling wine. This choice is a nod to the historic toast shared between President Richard Nixon and Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in Beijing in 1972.Guests will start with a yellow squash velouté soup, served with wild mushroom fricassée, crispy pancetta, and scallion oil. This smooth dish is made from sweet yellow squash, complemented by roasted mushrooms and fresh herbs. The pancetta adds a salty and smoky flavor, while the scallion oil provides a finishing touch. For the main course, diners will enjoy sesame-crusted sea bass accompanied by braised baby bok choy, roasted eggplant, and green herb sauce. Dessert will feature vanilla crèmeux and ice cream made with White House honey, paired with walnut frangipane and sour cherry confit.Each course creatively blends American and Chinese culinary traditions. The first course is finished with scallion oil, while the fish course incorporates sesame and bok choy. The White House describes this menu as an effort to unite the culinary customs of both nations. The entertainment for the evening will be headlined by tenor Christopher Macchio, who previously performed at Trump's 2025 presidential inauguration. During the formal dinner, musical performances will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Army musicians.This includes the "President's Own" United States Marine Band and the "Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. The United States Army Chorus and United States Army Strings will also participate in the event. Tables will be adorned with the White House Collection's vermilion and Reagan State Service china. This decor aims to harmonize Chinese cultural references with the traditions of the White House.
