The campaign commenced on September 17, aligning with the spirit of "Swachhata Hi Seva 2026." It encompasses a variety of activities focused on cleanliness, tree planting, and public engagement. DDA officials and staff are collaborating with 75 resident welfare associations, students, and community members to improve the upkeep of these facilities. Three main initiatives highlight the campaign. The "Children Towards Greenery" program engages children and students in cleanliness and environmental awareness activities, fostering a sense of responsibility towards parks, trees, and natural resources.
The goal is to inspire young participants to actively contribute to a culture of sanitation and environmental protection. The "Dispose of Waste Before Overflow" initiative emphasizes regular monitoring and timely emptying of trash bins in parks. This effort aims to prevent overflowing bins, littering, and unsanitary conditions while encouraging greater attention to everyday cleanliness in public spaces. The campaign is being implemented in several sports complexes, including Saket Sports Complex, Netaji Subhas Sports Complex, and the Major Dhyan Chand Sports Complex.
These locations are witnessing a thorough cleanup of sports and recreational facilities, parking areas, and green spaces. During the campaign, approximately 2.5 tons of waste has been collected from sports complexes. To promote a cleaner environment, single-use plastic bottles have been banned, and water dispensers along with steel trash bins have been installed. New dual trash bins in green and blue colors have also been set up to facilitate the separation of wet and dry waste, complemented by signage encouraging proper waste disposal.
