For many young professionals, getting a stable job at a big multinational company is considered a major achievement. A fixed salary, job security and a known company name are often seen as signs that life is finally on track. But for 25-year-old Sarthak Singh, that stability slowly started feeling more like a routine he never truly wanted. After working at American Express, Sarthak decided to quit his corporate job, leave India and start over with content creation, despite not knowing what the future looks like.

His story recently went viral on social media after he shared a video explaining why he walked away from a conventional career path that many people spend years trying to build.

“I dropped out of engineering, then I quit my 9-to-5 job at American Express, and now I’m leaving India,” Sarthak said at the beginning of the clip.

From engineering dropout to corporate employee
Sarthak revealed that he dropped out of engineering in 2019, a decision that he said drew criticism from people around him. Later, he completed a degree in hospitality because he still wanted to finish his education.

After that, through a referral, he managed to enter the corporate world and secured a full-time role at American Express. For some time, things appeared stable. He had a regular salary, a predictable lifestyle and what many would call a successful career path.

But according to Sarthak, the comfort of that stability slowly started limiting him. “What I realised is that I became too comfortable in my job that it is not letting me explore my potential,” he said.

In the viral video, Sarthak also spoke about how his daily routine was affecting him mentally and physically. He described a lifestyle filled with long commutes, unhealthy habits and exhaustion that eventually pushed him to rethink what he really wanted from life.

“Moreover, the lifestyle that I had on a daily basis was draining me and I was fed up of it totally. It involved getting stuck in traffic, lack of sleep, unhealthy living habits and I had to break out of the loop,” he shared.

The 25-year-old said he eventually realised that the fear of failure was not as difficult as continuing a life that did not feel fully his own. “What I realised recently is that the biggest risk is not failing, but it is living a life which you never truly chose for yourself,” he added.

Leaving India to rebuild life again
Sarthak further revealed that he has now decided to move out of India and start fresh while pursuing content creation full-time. Even though he admitted he has no certainty about what lies ahead, he said he wants to take ownership of his choices and experiences.

“I am going to take another risk which is moving out of India. I have decided to rebuild my life and start all over again,” he said.

Talking about the uncertainty around the decision, he added, “Maybe this becomes the best decision of my life, or maybe I fail again. But this time, I am choosing my own story, my struggles, my finances, my success, my failures, and documenting all of it.”

Internet reacts to his decision
Soon after the video started circulating online, many social media users related to Sarthak’s experience and praised him for prioritising mental well-being and personal freedom over a stable corporate routine.

“I support ur decision always do what pushes u more and what u actually love to do at heart,” one user wrote. “Way to go bhai! Stay blessed always! Wishing you the best, you’re going to be awesome,” another commented.

“All the best for this journey. Trying something new can feel uncertain, but not trying at all feels worse. Taking the risk is worth it,” another user shared.

One comment read, “Bro, this hit hard. I’m stuck in the same loop, and your courage is giving me hope.” Another user added, “Very proud of you,” while someone else wrote, “Damn. Giving me motivation to leave my job.”
