First Graduation Ceremony at Birsa Munda Tribal University Honors 667 Students

Rajpipla, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The first graduation ceremony of Birsa Munda Tribal University took place in Rajpipla on September 20, 2026. A total of 667 students received their degrees during the event, with 47 graduates honored with gold and silver medals. The ceremony saw the participation of Gujarat's Governor and University Chancellor Acharya Devvrat, alongside Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.Established in Narmada district under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the university awarded degrees across various faculties, including Arts, Commerce, and Science. Graduates from undergraduate, postgraduate, and MSW programs were recognized for their achievements. Governor Devvrat formally opened the ceremony, which included an oath-taking segment for the graduates. Following this, he and other officials distributed medals and degrees to selected students.Chief Minister Patel emphasized the significance of the event, framing it as more than just a graduation ceremony. He described it as a celebration of the ‘Adivasi Yuva Badlav’ initiative inspired by Prime Minister Modi, aimed at expanding higher education opportunities for tribal youth. Patel reflected on the educational landscape of the region, noting that about 25 years ago, there was only one college offering graduation-level education, forcing students to travel to cities like Surat and Vadodara for further studies.Since then, opportunities for higher education in tribal areas have increased significantly, with the establishment of five engineering colleges, six polytechnics, and 11 medical colleges. He highlighted how Birsa Munda Tribal University and Govind Guru University have made higher education more accessible for tribal communities. He urged graduates to stay connected to their roots, culture, and land while pursuing modern education. Patel encouraged them not just to benefit from government schemes but to actively participate in the nation's development and apply their knowledge and skills for local advancement.Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel underscored the government's initiatives to enhance education in tribal areas, including the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana, Shala Praveshotsav, and Kanya Kelvani Mahotsav. He noted that scholarships and other government programs have broadened opportunities for tribal students to pursue higher education in fields like medicine and engineering.
