After showing some signs of recovery in the first week of September, Indian startup funding took a major hit this week. Indian startups raised a mere $47.8 Mn across 18 funding deals between September 8-13. This marked a 74% drop from the $186.1 Mn raised by 20 startups in the first week of September.

- A majority of the funding deals this week were secured by early stage startups. While five startups at the Series A stage raised $16.7 Mn, eight startups at the seed stage raised $12.8 Mn.
- The enterprise services sector dominated the funding trends this week, with four startups cumulatively raising $12.2 Mn.
- Ecommerce was tied with enterprise services in terms of deal count, seeing capital infusion of $7.2 Mn this week across four deals. All of these deals were raised by D2C startups.
- Interior design startup Flipspaces bagged the biggest cheque of $9 Mn this week to close its Series C round at $50 Mn. In the real estate tech segment, Inc42 reported this week that WeHouse raised $2.8 Mn in its Series A round. On the back of these, the real estate tech segment saw the second highest capital infusion this week.
- VC firm A Junior VC (AJVC) announced the close of its debut AIF fund AJVC Trust at INR 200 Cr.
- Venture Catalysts raised INR 150 Cr (about $18 Mn) in a mix of primary and secondary transactions to launch new funds, upgrade tech and expand geographically. Investors like Ashish Kacholia, Authum Investments, Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai, Shahrukh Khan Family Office, among others, participated in the round.
- Urban Company’s initial public offering closed with an oversubscription of a whopping 104Xyesterday. The new-age tech company’s shares are expected to list on Wednesday (September 17).
- Besides Urban Company, coworking space provider DevX’s IPO also saw healthy investor interest. The IPO closed with an oversubscription of 64X, with investors bidding for 84.1 Cr shares as against 1.32 Cr shares on offer. Its shares are also expected to start trading on the bourses on Wednesday.
- Edtech major PhysicsWallah filed its updated DRHP with SEBI on September 6. Its proposed public offering will include a fresh issue of up to of INR 3,100 Cr and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to INR 720 Cr by cofounders and promoters Alakh Pandey and Prateek Boob.
- Insurtech startup Turtlemint pre-filed its IPO papers with SEBI on September 6. The size of the IPO is said to be in a range of $200 Mn to $250 Mn.
- House of brands startup Purple Style Labs’ board approved a proposal to undertake an IPO comprising a fresh issue of equity shares worth up to INR 750 Cr.
- Binny Bansal-backed SaaS startupVideoVerse was acquired by US-based digital media publisher Minute Media for an undisclosed amount.
- AI-focussed SaaS startup RevRag.AI acquired workflow orchestration startup GenStaq.ai to deepen its infrastructure control and accelerate enterprise-grade AI agent capabilities.
- Logistics unicorn Porter is reported to be in advanced discussions with investors to raise an additional $100 Mn to $110 Mn in its extended Series F funding round.
- Prosus-owned PayU is reportedly planning to raise $250 Mn to $300 Mn to help “gauge investor demand and set a valuation benchmark” ahead of its IPO.
