Gujarat Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife Over Suspicions of Infidelity

Sabarkantha, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : In Sabarkantha, Gujarat, a man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Soniaben Pargi, by strangulation. The incident occurred in the village of Haripura, where the couple lived as agricultural laborers with their children. Authorities reported that the husband, Ramesh Pargi, had suspicions about his wife's character, which led to a violent domestic dispute on the evening of September 22.Police Deputy Superintendent Smita Gohil stated that the altercation escalated into a fatal attack. "The incident primarily stemmed from a domestic dispute between the husband and wife. Ramesh Pargi acted out of jealousy regarding his wife's character," she explained. On September 23, Soniaben was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a room on their farm, her body covered with a blanket. At the time, Ramesh was not present in the room. Following the discovery, Soniaben's brother, Mumabhai Gamaar, filed a complaint, alleging that Ramesh had killed her due to his suspicions.After the incident, Ramesh fled the scene with their daughter. Local police and the Crime Branch formed teams to locate him. Authorities received a tip-off that he was traveling by rickshaw from Himmatnagar to Desotara, which led to his eventual capture. Police have filed a case against Ramesh under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code, 2023. He was arrested late on September 24. Gohil noted that the couple had been living in Haripura for the past three to four months and originally hailed from Kotada Chhaoni in Rajasthan.Ramesh, currently residing in Haripura, is also being investigated for any prior criminal records in Gujarat or Rajasthan. He is set to be presented in court, where investigators may request his remand. The case has been assigned to the Jadar police station for further investigation.
