Heavy Vehicle Ban During Navratri Festival at Durgadi Fort in Kalyan
Kalyan, Thane, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : As the Navratri and Dussehra festivities approach, the traffic police in Kalyan, Thane district, have issued specific regulations to manage the expected influx of visitors at Durgadi Fort. From October 11 to 20, heavy vehicles, including six-wheeled trucks, buses, and other large vehicles, will be prohibited from entering certain city routes daily from 4 PM to midnight.
This decision aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain public safety during the festival. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Shirsat, access for heavy vehicles will be restricted at key points such as Kalyan Naka, Khoni Nisar Dhaba, Newali Naka, Shriram Chowk, Aadharwadi Chowk, Ranjanoli Naka, and Sawad Naka. To mitigate disruptions, the traffic police have established alternative routes. Vehicles approaching from Kalyan Naka are advised to use the Mumbra Bypass, Kharegaon Toll Plaza, and the Mumbai-Nashik Highway.Those coming from Khoni Nisar Dhaba can take the Kalyan Phata, Badlapur-Ambernath route, and proceed from Kataai-Badlapur Chowk. Similarly, heavy vehicles arriving from Shriram Chowk will be redirected through Ulhasnagar, Shahad, and Ambernath routes. Vehicles heading towards Bhiwandi from Aadharwadi Chowk will be routed via Gandhari Bridge, Bapgaon, and Sonale. Ranjanoli Naka vehicles should use the Kharegaon Toll Plaza, while those from Sawad Naka can take the Sonale route.Notably, these traffic restrictions will not apply to emergency vehicles, including police, fire services, and ambulances. The traffic police urge drivers to adhere to the designated alternative routes and comply with traffic regulations to facilitate a safe and orderly festival experience.
