Insurance rules are set to change; customers will easily get complete insurance information in one place..

Newspoint

In today's times, insurance policies are crucial as they prove invaluable during difficult situations. While everyone wants to purchase insurance, many lack comprehensive information about it. Even when people seek to understand the details, they often find themselves running between websites and company offices, yet frequently fail to obtain the necessary information. However, this issue is set to be resolved soon, as information regarding policies and claim details will soon be available in a single location.

The IRDAI has proposed a new digital system for the insurance sector. The objective is to ensure that all insurance-related information is easily accessible to the general public and policyholders.

What is the proposed digital system?

The system proposed by the IRDAI is called the Public Insurance Registry (PIR). The PIR will be a digital system designed specifically for the insurance sector, enabling customers to easily access all essential insurance-related information. It will ensure that accurate information reaches customers, eliminating the need for them to run from pillar to post or make repeated visits to offices for information.

Although the IRDAI has only proposed the PIR and is currently seeking public feedback, no final decision has been reached yet; however, the IRDAI is expected to make a decision soon.

In its proposal, the IRDAI has emphasized the importance of prioritizing privacy. Opinions are being sought regarding customer consent and the technical framework, with a strong focus on data security. While the implementation of the PIR could simplify access to insurance information for the public, safeguarding privacy remains a critical priority.
