Actor Josh Brolin and his spouse, Kathryn Boyd Brolin, have officially sold their impressive estate located in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The couple acquired the property for $3.25 million back in 2020 and recently completed the sale for $4 million. This marks the conclusion of their six-year stay in the area as they prepare to move to the West Coast.
The expansive residence sits on a 1.48-acre lot and features a main house that ranges from 7,700 to 11,500 square feet. During their time there, the Brolins made extensive renovations, including a basement home theater and a high-end gym with a custom sauna and cold plunge. The estate also includes seven bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, a two-story guesthouse, and an outdoor space with a screened rotunda, fireplace, and a lagoon-style heated pool complete with waterfalls.
The decision to sell the property aligns with Brolin's recent remarks about his desire for a different living environment. At a panel during the Atlanta Film Festival, he shared his discontent with the Sandy Springs area, expressing a preference for neighborhoods that offer more character. He highlighted his fondness for the diversity and vibe of places like Inman Park, indicating he seeks a bit more edge than what Sandy Springs provides.
The estate was first listed for sale in April with an asking price of $4.999 million. After a brief withdrawal, it was relisted at $4.75 million, ultimately selling for $4 million to a buyer who is not a celebrity. Before the sale, the mansion had also been available for rent at a monthly rate of $35,000.
New Chapter in California
With their Georgia property now sold, the Brolins have shifted their primary residence to California. Earlier in 2024, they purchased a farmhouse in Santa Barbara for $7.1 million. Although the final sale price of their Sandy Springs home was lower than the initial asking price, it still represents a profit compared to their original purchase price in 2020. This sale marks the end of their real estate presence in the Atlanta area as they embrace their new life on the West Coast.
