Kamaljeet and Suruchi Shine with Gold in Asian Games Shooting
New Delhi, September 28: Indian shooter Kamaljeet, alongside his partner Suruchi Singh, achieved a remarkable feat by securing the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games. This victory not only fulfilled Kamaljeet's long-held aspiration but also highlighted the invaluable support from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The duo triumphed with a total score of 484.6 points, surpassing South Korea, which finished with 478.0 points to take home the silver medal. Iran secured the bronze with a score of 415.8 points, while Indonesia was eliminated with a score of 349.4 points.
Upon returning to India, Kamaljeet expressed his joy in an interview, stating, "Winning this gold medal at the Asian Games has been a dream come true. The support from the NRAI, SAI, and everyone involved has been phenomenal. I owe this success to all of them, and I must also commend my partner Suruchi for her exceptional skills as a shooter."
In addition to their gold medal, the Indian pair also set a new Asian record, breaking the previous mark of 481.3 set by Uzbekistan earlier this year during the Asian Shooting Championships in New Delhi.
Reflecting on the medal ceremony, Kamaljeet shared, "Seeing the national flag raised was an indescribable moment. There’s truly no better feeling than that."
