Which trades are included in the recruitment?

This recruitment drive by Southern Railway is open to both 'Fresher' and 'Ex-ITI' candidates. Apprentices will be recruited across various trades, including Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Carpenter, Painter, Diesel Mechanic, Wireman, Draftsman, COPA, Electronics Mechanic, and Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).

What is the stipend?
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during the training period. Depending on the trade, this amount will range from ₹8,200 to ₹9,600 per month.

Who can apply?

For the 'Fresher' category, candidates applying for Fitter, Painter, and Welder trades must have secured at least 50% marks in the 10th standard. For the Medical Laboratory Technician trade, candidates must have secured 50% marks in the 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects.
For the 'Ex-ITI' category, candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in the 10th standard and possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade recognized by NCVT or SCVT. Candidates holding an engineering degree or diploma are not eligible to apply for this recruitment.

What is the age limit?

'Fresher' candidates must be between 15 and 22 years of age. The maximum age limit for 'Ex-ITI' candidates is 24 years. Please note that the age calculation will be based on September 27, 2026. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and Ex-serviceman categories will be granted age relaxation as per the rules.

What is the application fee?
Candidates in the General category are required to pay an application fee of ₹100, whereas no application fee will be charged to SC, ST, PwBD, and female candidates.

How will the selection take place without an exam?

There will be no written examination for this recruitment. Candidates will be selected based on a merit list prepared from the marks obtained in Class 10, Class 12, and ITI. Candidates included in the merit list will be called for document verification. Subsequently, final selection will be made from among those who pass the medical fitness test.
