Modi and Trump Discuss Global Issues in Phone Call

New Delhi, September 30 (Udaipur Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump engaged in a significant phone conversation, as confirmed by Sergio Gore, the US Ambassador to India, on the evening of October 1. Both leaders discussed various topics, including global peace and security. Ambassador Gore took to social media platform 'X' to share that the dialogue between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi was very positive.This call comes at a crucial time as both nations are finalizing a trade deal, coinciding with the G20 trade ministers' meeting underway in the United States. In his update on 'X', Prime Minister Modi noted, "I had a good conversation with President Trump. We reviewed our bilateral cooperation in trade, defense, energy, critical technology, and other areas. We agreed to maintain close engagement to advance our comprehensive global strategic partnership." Modi also mentioned that they exchanged views on regional and international issues, including ongoing efforts to promote global peace and security.This was the first direct conversation between the two leaders since their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Évian, France, in June. According to the Prime Minister's Office, both leaders reiterated their commitment to advancing the India-US global strategic partnership and agreed to maintain close contact to deepen cooperation for the benefit of both nations. The PMO further stated that the leaders exchanged thoughts on regional and international developments and discussed ongoing efforts to promote global peace and security, agreeing to stay in touch.Earlier reports indicated that senior officials from the US administration had outlined an ambitious roadmap for expanding India-US relations, suggesting that Washington is working towards a presidential visit to India early next year, viewing New Delhi as one of its closest strategic partners. In June, during exclusive interviews at the White House, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ambassador Gore described the relationship as being in its strongest phase yet, highlighting growing cooperation in trade, defense, energy, critical technologies, and the Indo-Pacific region.
