New Selfie and Viewpoints Enhance Char Dham Yatra Experience in Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The district administration of Uttarkashi has launched an initiative to make the Char Dham Yatra more accessible, safe, and memorable. Under the guidance of District Magistrate Prashant Arya, the project aims to revamp old and dilapidated waiting shelters along key pilgrimage routes into attractive selfie points, viewpoints, and tourism facilities.As part of this special plan, the old waiting shelters along national highways from Chinyalisaur to Gangotri Dham and from Dharasu Band to Janki Chatti are being modernized. The Minor Irrigation Department is developing scenic viewpoints at designated locations to allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty and Himalayan landscapes. Executive Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department, Madaan Mohan Sharma, reported that a total of 14 construction projects have been approved at a cost of ₹31.32 lakh across the Bhattwadi, Naugaon, Purola, and Mori development blocks.These include selfie points at Hina Parking, viewpoints at Maneri Dam Falls, and additional sites along the Yamunotri and Lakhamandal pilgrimage routes, among others. This initiative is expected to provide travelers with better facilities for relaxation, enjoying nature, and photography. It will also strengthen the tourism infrastructure in the district. The revival of old resting places and the development of new attractions will create more local job opportunities and enhance Uttarkashi's positive tourism image on a national level.Increased publicity is anticipated as visitors share their experiences at these points. Of the proposed 14 sites, construction at 10 has already been completed. Projects include a selfie point at Hina Parking, a guiding pillar at Daburani, and ongoing work on a viewpoint and selfie point in Purola and Mori. The remaining projects are targeted for completion by the end of this month. The primary goal of this initiative is to provide better facilities for millions of pilgrims and tourists coming from across the country and abroad while strengthening the tourism framework of the district.
