In a tightly contested final, the Indian team clocked a time of 3:29.69, surpassing Bahrain (3:30.21) and China (3:31.02).This victory marked the end of a lengthy wait for India in the women's 4x400m relay at the Asian Games. The Indian team began the final from lane six, with Kiran running the first leg before handing the baton to the experienced Poovamma in third place.Poovamma delivered a powerful performance, propelling India into the lead. Prachi maintained the momentum, passing the baton to anchor leg runner Vithya. In a thrilling finish, Vithya gained a crucial edge near the 200-meter mark, overtaking Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser in the final moments to secure the gold medal for India. This triumph significantly outperformed India's silver medal finish in the women's 4x400m relay at the previous edition of the Asian Games.Vithya had a memorable outing, as this victory marked her third medal in the competition. She had previously won silver and bronze in the women's 400m hurdles and set a national record just a day before the relay final. Japan finished fourth with a time of 3:31.44, followed by Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Chinese Taipei.
