Prime Minister Modi to Visit Chennai on October 11, Unveiling Over ₹13,000 Crore in Development Projects
Chennai, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a visit to Tamil Nadu on October 11, where he is set to inaugurate, lay the foundation for, and dedicate various development projects exceeding ₹13,000 crore. His agenda will focus on significant initiatives related to infrastructure, transportation, education, railways, ports, and scientific research.
The Prime Minister's day will begin with a metro ride from the Porur Bypass Station to the Poonamallee Bypass Station around 11:30 AM. Following this, he will visit the Jalakandeswarar Temple and tour the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Center at IIT Madras. At approximately 1:30 PM, Modi will address a public gathering while inaugurating and laying the foundation for several development projects. He will also participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Jayagopal Garodia Hindu School.Among the key projects, PM Modi will inaugurate the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail, specifically the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch. This project, costing around ₹4,900 crore, features a 3.7-kilometer two-level structure and a state-of-the-art signaling system for driverless trains, improving connectivity between Chennai's western suburbs and the city center while reducing travel time. Additionally, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for national highway projects valued at approximately ₹3,700 crore.This includes the four-lane stretch of National Highway-744 from Vadugapatti to Therkuvenganallur and the Madurai Ring Road segment of National Highway-744A. The foundation stone for the Tiruvur Bypass on the Nagapattinam-Thanjavur route of National Highway-83 will also be laid, enhancing road connectivity, alleviating traffic congestion, and boosting economic activities. PM Modi will dedicate over ₹750 crore worth of railway infrastructure projects.This includes the Karikal-Peralam railway line, three railway overbridges in Coimbatore and surrounding areas, and the redevelopment of five railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The new flyovers in Coimbatore will help reduce traffic pressure and improve road safety. To strengthen Tamil Nadu's maritime and port infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for several projects. Facilities at the Chennai Port, such as a storage yard, EXIM warehouse, advanced cruise terminal, and sailors' club, will be inaugurated.Projects aimed at enhancing cargo and container capacity at V.O. Chidambaranar Port and Kamarajar Port will also commence. At IIT Madras, PM Modi will inaugurate the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Center and launch a global scientific mission related to three-dimensional mapping of the human brain. He will also release the "C-Stroke" atlas, which aims to provide new insights for researchers studying ischemic strokes. The Prime Minister will conclude his visit by attending the golden jubilee celebrations of the Jayagopal Garodia Hindu School, which has made significant contributions to education, discipline, and cultural values over the past 50 years.Ahead of his trip, PM Modi shared on social media platform X that the visit will kickstart development projects worth over ₹13,000 crore, highlighting the Chennai Metro, Coimbatore flyover, port infrastructure, and the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Center as key achievements of the day.
