Suresh Raina Predicts 90% Chance of World Cup Victory with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Team

New Delhi, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has expressed strong confidence in India's prospects for the 2027 ODI World Cup. He believes that if seasoned players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of the team, the chances of winning could reach as high as 90%. The tournament is set to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia between October and November.Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Raina highlighted the impressive records of both players in major tournaments, including the IPL. He stated, “We have exceptional match-winners. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are outstanding captains who have led us to numerous trophies for both the IPL and the national team. Virat needs no introduction; he is a unique player. I feel I have played many matches alongside him. He also desires to continue playing. If they both remain in the team, the probability of winning the World Cup is 90%.” Raina also reflected on India's defeat to Australia in the 2023 World Cup, noting that the team would return to South Africa with renewed vigor for the 2027 tournament.“We lost in South Africa in 2003, and now we need to take revenge,” he remarked. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has included Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in a 15-member squad for a three-match ODI series against the West Indies. This series kicks off on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by matches in Guwahati on September 30 and Chandigarh on October 3. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer will be part of India's campaign for the Asian Games. Raina also praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi, stating, “He should be allowed to play his natural game.The way he is scoring runs and his thought process on the field is completely different. I enjoy watching him play.”
