Tech Tips: Is your phone's gallery full? Free up storage with these 4 easy ways!

Newspoint

When your phone's storage is full, it not only makes downloading new apps difficult, but it also slows down significantly. If your smartphone is repeatedly displaying the "Storage Full" notification, you can free up a lot of space in no time with these simple steps:

1. Clear WhatsApp's 'Chat Media'
The countless good morning messages, funny videos and photos received on WhatsApp occupy a large part of the phone's memory.

What to do: Go to WhatsApp Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage. Here you'll see which chats or large videos are taking up the most space. Delete any that aren't useful immediately.

2. Use cloud storage.

Instead of always storing your old memories (photos and videos) on your phone, transfer them to a safe place.

What to do: Back up all your important photos and videos to Google Photos or Google Drive. Once the backup is complete, you can delete those files from your phone's local gallery using the 'Free up space' option.

3. Get rid of 'doubles' files and apps.
Often the same photo gets saved two-three times in our phone or there are such apps which we have not opened for months.

What to do: Use your phone's built-in Files by Google app or storage cleaner. This app automatically finds and recommends deleting duplicate photos, junk files, and heavy apps that you don't use.

4. Clean the Downloads folder.

Whatever PDFs, bills, movies or photos we download from the browser, they all get accumulated in the 'Downloads' folder and are forgotten.

What to do: Go to your phone's file manager, open the 'Downloads' folder and permanently delete any files that are no longer useful.

A small habit: Make it a habit to clean your phone of junk once a week; this will keep your phone running as smooth as new!
