Tragic Bus Accident Claims Lives of Two Students in Madhya Pradesh
Damoh, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident occurred on Saturday along the Damoh-Jabalpur state highway in Madhya Pradesh, where a passenger bus struck three eighth-grade students. The collision resulted in the deaths of two girls, aged 14, while another student sustained serious injuries. The victims have been identified as Dasoda Patel and Arushi Thakur.
The injured student, Nitya Sen, was promptly taken to the district hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that other schoolchildren were also affected, although the total number of injuries varies across sources. The accident took place near the village of Abhana, within the jurisdiction of the Nohta police station in Damoh district. According to police, the girls were on their way to school when the bus hit them. In the aftermath of the accident, angry villagers blocked the road and threw stones at buses in protest.Archana Aheer, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Tendukheda, confirmed the fatalities and the serious injury of one girl. Local residents gathered at the scene, causing significant traffic disruptions. Police were deployed to manage the situation and negotiate with protesters. Damoh Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav visited the district hospital to meet the injured and instructed the district transport officer to seize the bus involved in the accident. Additionally, Naib Tehsildar Raghunandan Chaturvedi visited the hospital to offer condolences to the grieving families.Authorities remained on-site, working to restore traffic flow and address the protesters' demands.
