Uri National Highway to Close Temporarily on October 4 and 11 for Hill Cutting

Uri, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Uri National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir will be temporarily closed on October 4 and 11 due to essential hill cutting work. Officials from the Border Roads Organization (BRO) announced this decision, emphasizing the need to ensure safety during the operations. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prince Kumar issued the order, advising residents, travelers, and transport operators to use the Bandipora-Paranpillin-Dachin route as an alternative during the closure.

The decision follows a letter from the officer commanding 53 RCC, dated September 11, which highlighted the necessity for the highway's temporary closure. The order specifies that hill cutting will not occur during government office hours, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 5 PM, to minimize inconvenience for travelers. The agency responsible for the hill cutting has been instructed to keep the road open for vehicle movement during these times. Additionally, the agency is required to implement all necessary safety measures for the protection of travelers and other road users.
This announcement was made on October 3 and has been communicated to key officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla and the commanding officer of the 53 RCC. The BRO is responsible for maintaining the Uri National Highway, as well as other strategically significant routes in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Srinagar-Leh and Srinagar-Jammu highways.
