Voting Underway for Delhi University Student Union Elections, ABVP Claims Victory

New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Voting is currently taking place for the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections in 2026. Students are arriving on time to cast their votes. Meanwhile, members and candidates from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have asserted that they are on track for victory. In response to a recent building collapse in Satya Niketan, Yash Dubas, the ABVP candidate for president, expressed his sorrow over the incident."We are all very saddened by this event. Such a tragedy should never have occurred. We will ensure a safety audit is conducted to prevent future incidents. The atmosphere is overwhelmingly in favor of ABVP, and we are heading towards a clean sweep of 4-0," he stated. Ishu Maurya, running for the position of vice president with ABVP, emphasized that the party's main issues are derived from its own acronym: A for accommodation, B for participation, V for trust, and P for results.These are the core topics ABVP has focused on in its manifesto and campaign efforts. Congress worker Deepak Bhardwaj mentioned that they gathered to support fair voting in the Delhi Student Union elections. "We are here to ensure that students can vote impartially and contest the elections fairly. We are raising student interests at the district Congress office, where the district president, former ministers, and workers will be present until evening to ensure a fair election process," he said.Vir Chhatraath, a candidate for vice president from the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), highlighted that their agenda and manifesto are based entirely on student input. "All our issues are centered on students. They have given us the opportunity to create this manifesto by engaging directly with them. Our organization launched a campaign called 'My Campus, My Manifesto,' which was implemented across all colleges in Delhi University to gather insights on specific campus issues," he explained.Student Manisha, who came to vote, remarked on the enthusiasm among students when choosing their representatives. "Students need a representative to voice their concerns to the university administration, as not all students share the same views," she noted.
