West Indies Chase Down Target with Ease

With Hope's unbeaten century of 102 runs and significant contributions from Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd, the West Indies successfully chased down the target in just 18.3 overs, finishing at 252 runs for 4 wickets, thus leveling the five-match series at 1-1. After the match, Hope acknowledged the challenges of bowling in such conditions and praised Chase for maintaining a low scoring rate during India's innings. He stated, "Amazing. On a surface and a field like this, to go out six runs and over is unbelievable. He really kept us in the game, making it easier for us to chase that score."

Record Chase Achieved by West Indies

This victory marked West Indies' highest successful run chase in T20I history and the second-highest overall in the format, following South Africa's chase of 259 runs against West Indies in Centurion in 2023.

Hope Reflects on the Tough Chase

Despite the impressive chase, West Indies faced early challenges, finding themselves at 5 runs for 2 wickets after Indian bowler Mayank Yadav took two wickets in the first over. However, Hope stabilized the innings with a 53-run partnership alongside Rovman Powell, followed by a significant 120-run partnership with Sherfane Rutherford and a 74-run partnership with Romario Shepherd, leading to a remarkable win. Hope, who was awarded Player of the Match for his century, remarked on the initial struggle, saying, "We knew it would be a tough chase, but once you chase here in India, you always give yourself a challenge."
