Imran Khan ‘Mentally Tortured’, Claims Sister After Meeting Him In Adiala Jail Amid Death Rumours
Amid growing rumours about Imran Khan’s health and rising calls for proof of life, the former Pakistan prime minister’s sister, Uzma Khanum, was finally allowed to meet him inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Tuesday, according to The Dawn. Her visit came after days of protests, speculation and claims by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that Imran Khan had been denied lawful visitation rights.
Scores of PTI supporters gathered outside the prison as Uzma entered the facility, hoping for clarity on the PTI founder’s condition. Her meeting with Imran Khan comes at a time when the party has been staging protests outside the Islamabad High Court and Adiala Jail, alleging that authorities have blocked access to him for weeks.
Sister Says Imran Khan Is ‘Mentally Tortured’
After the meeting, PTI’s US handle shared a video in which Uzma Khanum told the media, “Imran Khan’s health is perfectly fine. However, he said they are subjecting him to ‘mental torture’, and that Asim Munir is responsible for all of this.”
Rumours Fuelled by Denied Visits and Tight Security
According to reports, Imran Khan has not been allowed any family meetings since October 27. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Sohail Afridi claimed that neither the PTI founder nor his wife, Bushra Bibi, had been allowed visitors for more than a month.
Last week, his son Kasim Khan said the former prime minister had been kept in solitary confinement for six weeks “in a death cell with zero transparency”. He stated:
“There have been no phone calls, no meetings, and no proof of life. Me and my brother have had no contact with our father.”
Despite these claims, Adiala Jail authorities continue to insist that Imran Khan is in “good health”.
Government Allows Sister Visit Amid Protests
The PTI confirmed that Imran Khan’s sister had finally been permitted to see him, though the party questioned whether the government would consistently honour such approvals. Meanwhile, the Punjab government deployed the entire Rawalpindi police force along Adiala Road to prevent PTI’s planned demonstrations.
Section 144 prohibiting gatherings of more than four people remains in effect across both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Senior police officials and station house officers from eight stations have been stationed outside the jail to maintain order.
The controversy over Imran Khan’s condition, mental health, and alleged mistreatment continues to dominate Pakistan’s political landscape, with the PTI demanding greater transparency and unrestricted family access.
