Police's Musical Coup: Catching Notorious Criminal With A DJ And Dance Routine

Vadodara: The Dahod police in Gujarat had an unconventional approach to apprehend a notorious criminal who had managed to evade capture for over a decade. Turning the operation into a lively affair, the police team orchestrated a song and dance routine by setting up a DJ set and disguising themselves as members of a wedding procession.

The target of their pursuit was Pidiya Ratna Sangada , a resident of Govali Patra village in Meghnagar taluka of Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh . Sangada had been implicated in bootlegging cases since 2013, with carriers linking him to a staggering 144 instances of transporting illicit liquor from Madhya Pradesh. He ranked among the top 24 most wanted criminals in Gujarat and top 10 in the Dahod district .

Despite previous unsuccessful attempts to apprehend Sangada and a lack of concrete evidence, the Dahod police remained determined. Their perseverance paid off as they collaborated with the Madhya Pradesh police, gathered crucial information, and confirmed Sangada's existence. This marked the beginning of a relentless pursuit.

However, Sangada proved to be a formidable target due to his extensive network of informers. He consistently managed to evade capture by staying one step ahead of the police. On a Sunday, the police received intelligence that Sangada would be present at a location in the Aalni Talai forests near Kharoda village in Dahod district. Fearing that Sangada might become aware of their movements, the police devised an ingenious plan.

The police team transformed themselves into a vibrant wedding procession, donning colourful turbans known as "safas," and accompanied by a DJ system. Dancing to the pulsating beats of the DJ music, they made their way towards Sangada's location. Caught off guard, Sangada was swiftly apprehended and brought into police custody.

According to a Dahod police officer, it was stated that the arrest of Sangada had resulted in the disruption of a significant liquor supply chain to the state. It was revealed that he had been involved in the smuggling of liquor, typically in small quantities. While there is a possibility that he has been charged in multiple cases, there remains a chance that additional instances have gone undetected. It was observed that the liquor was transported using two-wheelers, suggesting Sangada's strategy of dividing larger quantities into smaller portions for distribution.
