Celebrity Extravaganza: Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit to Dazzle at Goa's International Film Festival Opening

The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa will shine a spotlight on the magnificence of cinema, featuring a star-studded opening ceremony. Actors Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit will take center stage at this grand event.

The event guarantees a fusion of elegance and artistic brilliance, showcasing not just Shahid and Madhuri but also a stellar lineup of other celebrities like Shriya Saran, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Pankaj Tripathi, along with musical virtuosos like Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal, and Sukhwinder Singh. Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna will be the hosts at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium. The film extravaganza is scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20 to 28.

During the ceremony, Madhuri will perform a medley of her chart-topping hits, with the actor sharing, “Cinema has given me so much, it’s time to give something back in return. What better way to do so than through song and dance which is integral to not just Indian cinema, but Indian culture as well”.

In the meantime, Shahid will be showcasing his popular songs with a live performance. “Performing in front of a live audience is something I’ve truly loved ever since I can remember… Thanks to IFFI I get to do that one more time in Goa,” he says.


Bharuccha will showcase The India Story through her performance, while Shriya will take the stage to dance to various tunes including the Tamil song "Allegra Allegra," the Kannada chartbuster "Ra Ra Rakkamma," the Malayalam hit "Kalapakkaara," and "Show Me The Thumka."

At the opening ceremony, Karan Johar and Sara Ali Khan, alongside the Ae Watan Mere Watan team, will reveal the first glimpse of the drama-thriller. Sukhwinder will perform the film's title track live during the event. Pankaj Tripathi, Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal, and Taba Chake will take the stage to introduce the crime-thriller Kadak Singh, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi will unveil the trailer of the black comedy Gandhi Talks, a silent film set in the present day that follows four characters portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Siddharth Jadhav, and Aditi Rao Hydari.

The closing ceremony will feature performances by Ayushmann Khurrana and music composer Amit Trivedi. Ayushmann will bring vibrant energy to the stage, delivering a tribute to Michael Douglas, the esteemed recipient of the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award.

Amit Trivedi is set to curate a unique rendition of the Sounds of Bharat, blending it with a medley of his chart-topping songs.

The festival will feature a specially arranged performance by the 'Harmony of the Pines' orchestra from the Himachal Pradesh police, igniting a sense of patriotism. This presentation aligns with the festival's theme of 'India through the movies,' highlighting the rich tapestry of our culture's unity and diversity.
