Please Don’t Sh** On Anyone: Richa Chadha Supports Showcasing Fashion At Cannes 2023, Nandita Das Feels Otherwise

The ongoing 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has garnered attention and sparked debates among netizens. The festival, known for celebrating the art of filmmaking, has attracted not only A-listers but also social media influencers, leading to disappointment among some who feel that the event is now dominated by fashion.

Amidst this discourse, Bollywood actor Richa Chadha , who is currently in attendance at Cannes , has shared her perspective on the matter.

Richa Chadha's message of acceptance and support

In an Instagram Story post, Richa Chadha urged people to refrain from criticizing others and embrace a more positive outlook. She acknowledged that many individuals attending Cannes express gratitude towards the brands, designers, and alcohol labels that sponsor their presence. Chadha highlighted that Cannes serves as a marketing platform, and those attending without a film or for promotional purposes should be allowed to enjoy the event without judgment.

She also emphasized that the true essence of Cannes lies in its celebration of films and the joy experienced by artists when their work receives recognition.

Nandita Das ' take on the red carpet focus

Renowned filmmaker Nandita Das recently expressed her opinion on celebrities attending Cannes solely for the red carpet spectacle. Sharing throwback pictures from the festival, Das reminded everyone that Cannes is fundamentally a film festival, not a fashion show. She reminisced about the films she watched, the engaging conversations she had, and the premiere of her own film, Manto, at Cannes.

Das also addressed the discussion surrounding celebrities wearing traditional Indian saris at the event, emphasizing their elegance and simplicity.

Cannes, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, commenced on May 16 this year and will run until May 27.
