Government Extends Free Aadhaar Details Update Deadline Once More

The government has once again extended the deadline for citizens to update their Aadhaar card details online for free. Initially set for June 14, the free update deadline was later extended to September 14, and now it has been further extended until December 14. This initiative is part of the Digital India campaign, and it is aimed at individuals who received their Aadhaar cards a decade ago and have not updated them since. It's important to note that these cost-free updates are only applicable for online modifications and cannot be done at physical Aadhaar centers.

Why Update Your Aadhaar?

Updating your Aadhaar card with current identity and address documents facilitates smoother service delivery, accurate authentication, and an improved quality of life. Therefore, it's in the best interest of Aadhaar cardholders to submit recent identity and address documents.

Here's how you can update your Aadhaar details online :

-Visit the Aadhaar Self-Service portal on the official UIDAI website : https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
-Log in to the portal using your Aadhaar number and captcha. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number to authenticate the process.
-Go to the document update section and review your existing details.

-Select the appropriate document type from the drop-down list and upload scanned copies of the original documents.
-Click on the submit button and make a note of the Service Request Number (SRN) to track the status of your application request.

Documents Accepted as Proof of Identity (PoI):

-CGHS/ECHS/ESIC/Medi-Claim Card issued by Central Govt/State Govt/PSU/Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) Card
-Disability ID Card/Certificate of Disability issued under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017
-Driving License
-Govt ID Card-Bhamashah, Domicile Certificate, Resident Certificate, Jan-Aadhaar, MGNREGA/ NREGA Job Card, Labour Card
-Indian Passport
-Kisan Photograph Passbook
-Mark sheet/Certificate issued by recognized Board of Education/University
-Marriage Certificate and Old Pol Document (If Photo not available in Marriage Certificate)
-Name Exception: Gazette Notification of new name with old Pol document/ Divorce Decree/ Adoption Certificate/ Marriage Certificate
-Nepalese/ Bhutanese-Passport/ Citizenship Certificate/ Voter ID/ Limited Photo ID Certificate
-PAN Card/e-PAN Card
-Pensioner Photo Card/Freedom Fighter Photo Card/Pension Payment Order issued by Central Govt/State Govt/PSU/Regulatory Bodies/ Statutory Bodies
-Prisoner Induction Document (PID) issued by Prison Officer with his signatures and seal
-Ration/PDS Photograph Card/e-Ration Card

-School Leaving Certificate (SLC)/ School Transfer Certificate (TC)
-Service Photo Identity Card issued by Central Govt/ State Govt/ PSU/ Regulatory
-Standard Certificate by Superintendent/Warden/Matron/ Head of Institution (for children of concerned shelter home or orphanage only) Transgender ID Card/Certificate issued under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019
-Valid Long Term VISA (LTV) document along with Foreign Passport (valid or expired) of origin country issued to minorities
-Valid OCI Card along with valid Foreign Passport for residents who have stayed in India for 182 days or more in the immediately preceding 12 months
-Valid VISA along with valid Foreign Passport issued to other Resident Foreigners
-Voter ID Card/e-Voter ID Card

-Allotment letter of accommodation issued by Central Govt /State Govt/PSU/ Regulatory Bodies/ Statutory Bodies (not more than 1 year old)
-Bank Account/Credit Card/ Post Office Account Statement (not older than 3 months)
-Disability ID Card/Certificate of Disability issued under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017
-Electricity Bill (Prepaid & Postpaid bill, not older than 3 months)
-Gas Connection Bill (not older than 3 months)
-Govt ID Card-Bhamashah, Domicile Certificate, Resident Certificate, Jan-Aadhaar, MGNREGA/ NREGA Job Card, Labour Card
-Indian Passport
-Kisan Photograph Passbook
-Life/Medical Insurance Policy (valid up to 1 year from the date of issue of the Policy)
-Marriage Certificate and Old Pol Document (If Photo not available in Marriage Certificate)

-Standard Certificate by Tehsildar/ Gazetted Officer Group 'B'
-Standard Certificate by Village Panchayat Head/President or Mukhiya/Village Panchayat Secretary
-Telephone Landline Bill/ Postpaid Mobile Bill/Broadband Bill (not older than 3 months)
-Transgender ID Card/Certificate issued under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019
-Valid Long Term VISA (LTV) document along with Foreign Passport (valid or expired) of origin country issued to minorities
-Valid Registered Sale Agreement/Registered Gift Deed in Registrar office/Registered or Non Registered -Rent/Lease Agreement/Leave and License agreement
-Valid Registration Certificate or Residential permit issued by FRRO/FRO to the Resident Foreigners
-Voter ID Card/e-Voter ID Card
-Water Bill (not older than 3 months)
