Surya Tilak Ceremony Lights Up Ram Lalla's Forehead at Ayodhya Temple During Ram Navami

Amidst the vibrant festivities of Ram Navami , a spectacular ceremony known as the Surya Tilak adorned the idol of Ram Lalla at the Ayodhya temple on Wednesday. The entire temple precinct buzzed with an aura of reverence and jubilation as the unique ritual unfolded.

At the stroke of noon, a meticulously orchestrated event commenced, utilizing an intricate arrangement of mirrors and lenses ingeniously designed by a team of dedicated scientists appointed by the temple trust.
Their ingenuity paved the way for a mesmerizing display, culminating in the illumination of the sacred forehead of Ram Lalla's statue.

"The planned tilak size is 58 mm," revealed a senior scientist from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, shedding light on the technical aspects of the ceremony. "The exact period of tilak on the forehead centre was about three to three-and-a-half minutes, with two minutes of full illumination," he elaborated.



Even as the celestial ceremony unfolded in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi , addressing a gathering at an election rally in Assam's Nalbari, acknowledged the historic significance of the occasion. "Today is the historic occasion of Ram Navami. After waiting for 500 years, Lord Ram has been seated in his grand temple," exclaimed the Prime Minister, amidst resounding chants of ‘Jai Siyavar Ram’. He further remarked, "Now after a few minutes, by applying Surya Tilak to Lord Ram, his birth anniversary will be celebrated in the holy city of Ayodhya, in the Ram Temple."

The grandeur of the event resonated across the Ram Janmabhoomi, reminiscent of the splendid ceremony of pran pratishtha witnessed earlier. Ram Navami unfolded with fervour at Ram Mandir, with offerings ranging from 56 types of bhog, prasad, to panjiri, symbolizing the devout adoration towards Lord Ram.



Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, expressed delight at the meticulous arrangements orchestrated by the Trust, ensuring that the occasion of Ram Navami was celebrated with utmost zeal. "He is dressed in yellow clothes, and after this he is bathed with Panchamrit," he remarked. "Four-five types of panjiris are made and along with that, 56 types of offerings are made to the Lord," he added, underscoring the meticulous preparations for the auspicious occasion.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, entrusted with the management of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, shared glimpses of the divine festivities on their official handles, capturing the essence of the sacred rituals performed with utmost devotion.
