The 55th match of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium ended in frustration for fans, as relentless rain left the game abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The washout proved to be a mixed bag: Delhi Capitals, still in the playoff hunt, held on to fifth place with 13 points from 11 matches and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.362. But for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the result was the final nail in the coffin — officially knocking them out of playoff contention. With only three wins and an NRR of -1.192, they now sit eighth on the table.

At the top, Royal Challengers Bangalore continue their dominant run, leading with eight wins from 11 games and a healthy NRR of +0.482. Breathing down their neck are the Punjab Kings, also with eight wins but a slightly lower NRR of +0.376.

Mumbai Indians, in third with 14 points, may not top the table yet, but their superior NRR of +1.274 gives them a strong advantage in any close finish. Gujarat Titans are close behind, sitting fourth with 14 points from just 10 matches and a powerful NRR of +0.867 — giving them the edge with an extra game in hand.

Kolkata Knight Riders, with 11 points from 11 games, are still in the mix but need to step up in the final stretch. Lucknow Super Giants are in a tougher spot after their recent loss to Punjab, with just 10 points and a weak NRR of -0.469, which could hurt them in a tight race.

Here’s a quick look at the updated IPL 2025 points table

As the playoff picture sharpens, two former champions have already bowed out. Rajasthan Royals have managed only three wins from 12 games, and Chennai Super Kings are at the bottom with a dismal two wins and an NRR of -1.117 — ending what has been a forgettable campaign.

With just a few games left, every point and every decimal of NRR will count. The race to the playoffs is heating up, even as the rain tries to cool it down.
