The registration window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ( GATE ) 2026 will close today, October 6, 2025, as per the Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT ) Guwahati. Candidates who are yet to apply can complete their registration by the end of the day without paying a late fee. After this, the application portal will remain open until October 9, 2025, with an additional late fee of ₹500.

The GATE 2026 exams are scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. Aspirants for M.Tech, PhD, and other postgraduate engineering programmes are advised to complete the process as soon as possible to avoid last-minute server issues or document upload errors.

How to apply for GATE 2026
Candidates who have not yet registered can follow the steps below to complete their GATE 2026 application:

• Visit the official website: Go to gate2026.iitg.ac.in
• Create a new account using your email ID and mobile number.
• Enter your name, date of birth, nationality, and contact details.
• Provide details about your qualifying degree, institution, and year of completion or expected graduation.
• Select the GATE paper you wish to appear for and your preferred exam centre city.
• Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and any relevant certificates.
• Complete the payment using any of the available online payment methods.
• Verify all the details entered and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
• Save and print the application confirmation page for future use.

Recent passport-size photograph (JPEG/PNG, 10-200 KB)

Scanned signature (JPEG/PNG, 10-200 KB)
