BYD Sealion 7 India Launch Date Confirmed: A Strong BMW iX1 Rival
BYD India is all set to introduce the highly anticipated Sealion 7 electric SUV to the Indian market, with the official launch scheduled for 17 February 2025. Positioned as a premium electric SUV, the Sealion 7 is set to compete with rivals like the BMW iX1. The vehicle, which was first showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility event, has already begun accepting bookings. Customers can book the EV online or through BYD dealerships for a refundable deposit of ₹70,000. To make the deal more enticing, BYD is offering a 7-year or 1.5 lakh km warranty, along with a free 7 kW home charger for the first 70 buyers. The brand will also match the booking amount, offering added value to early adopters.
Bold and Aerodynamic Design Inspired by Marine Life
The BYD Sealion 7 is built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0 and features a design inspired by sea lions leaping into the water. The electric SUV showcases a sleek and aerodynamic look with a five-spoke design that enhances its dynamic appeal. The front of the vehicle is characterised by angular headlamps, L-shaped LED daytime running lights, and large air intakes. Its side profile features sharp creases, flush door handles, and aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels, while the rear is highlighted by a connected LED taillight setup, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a subtle lip spoiler at the tailgate edge.
With dimensions of 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, the Sealion 7 presents a balanced yet sporty stance on the road. Its overall styling bears a resemblance to the BYD Seal sedan while incorporating elements that set it apart as a rugged and premium electric SUV.
