Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the renowned luxury car manufacturer owned by Tata Motors, has unveiled a groundbreaking move in the automotive world: the manufacturing of its flagship Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs in India. The company has opted for local assembly by importing Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits, which will be meticulously put together at JLR's facility in Pune.
This strategic decision not only marks a significant milestone for JLR but also signals a shift in the global automotive manufacturing landscape, as it's the first time these iconic luxury SUVs will be produced outside the United Kingdom.

The decision to locally assemble the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport brings substantial benefits to Indian consumers, primarily in the form of reduced import duties, resulting in remarkable cost savings. With import duties slashed by 18-22%, the price differentials are striking.
The top-tier Range Rover Autobiography model now commands a premium of up to Rs 60 lakh, while the Range Rover Sport sees a notable price reduction of Rs 40 lakh. The locally produced Range Rover 3.0-litre HSE LWB diesel is priced at Rs 2.36 crore, with the petrol Autobiography version commanding Rs 2.6 crore (both prices ex-showroom). The Range Rover Sport, known for its sporty prowess, is attractively priced at 1.40 crore (ex-showroom).
