Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 Sees Record-breaking Sales & 40,000 Bookings In First Month
Maruti Suzuki India has once again set the automotive market ablaze with the launch of the highly anticipated Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 . Introduced on May 9, 2024, the new Swift has swiftly captured the hearts of Indian consumers, amassing an impressive 40,000 bookings within its first month. With over 19,400 units sold since its debut, the Swift has become Maruti Suzuki’s highest-selling model in its launch month, setting a new benchmark for the brand.
Varied Offerings and Popular Trims
The 2024 Maruti Swift is available in five variants: LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+. All variants are powered by a single engine option – a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine. Buyers can choose between two transmission options: a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift, also known as AMT).
Interestingly, the manual transmission variants dominate the sales, making up 83% of the total bookings, while the AGS versions account for the remaining 17%. Among the various trims, the VXi variant has emerged as the most popular choice, garnering nearly 50% of the bookings in both manual and AMT configurations.
Future Expansion: The Swift CNG
In a recent media interaction, Maruti Suzuki announced plans to expand the Swift lineup with the introduction of a CNG variant. The Swift CNG will maintain the aesthetic and design elements of its petrol counterpart while featuring the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder NA petrol engine. The CNG variant is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of more than 27 km/kg, which is a significant improvement over the petrol version’s claimed fuel efficiency of 24.8 km/l for the manual variants and 25.75 km/l for the AMT variants.

While the petrol engine of the Swift produces 82 hp of power and 112 Nm of torque, the CNG mode will have a slightly lower output. Despite this, the CNG Swift is expected to maintain a robust performance, catering to environmentally conscious consumers looking for a more fuel-efficient alternative.
