Mercedes-Benz is set to start 2025 on an electrifying note with the launch of its G 580 EV, scheduled for 9 January. The G 580, part of the brand's EQ series, combines the iconic design of the G-Class with cutting-edge electric technology. Retaining its hallmark boxy aesthetics, the G 580 incorporates EV-specific features such as a closed-off grille and an optional illuminated design. Buyers can also swap the rear spare wheel for a square storage compartment, enhancing practicality.

The G 580 introduces a 'tank turn' capability, enabling a full 360-degree rotation on its axis, thanks to its quad-motor all-wheel-drive system. This unique feature promises to make off-road manoeuvrability more accessible than ever, complementing its renowned performance on rough terrains.

Equipped with four independent motors, the G 580 generates 579 bhp and a staggering 1,164 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Its 116 kWh battery supports an impressive range of up to 473 km on a single charge. Fast-charging options enable 10-80% battery replenishment in just 32 minutes.

Inside, the SUV features dual 12.3-inch digital displays with EQ-specific graphics, along with advanced driver-assistance systems and customisable comfort options. Its luxurious interior can also be tailored through Mercedes’ Manufaktur programme, which offers extensive personalisation options.
