MG Motor India has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the much-anticipated MG Windsor EV , in the Indian market. Adding to its line-up of electric cars, the Windsor becomes the third all-electric offering from MG, following the success of the ZS EV and the Comet EV. Dubbed a "Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV)," the Windsor draws its inspiration from the iconic Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom, embodying a perfect blend of luxury and contemporary design.

The MG Windsor EV is packed with an impressive set of features across three variants – Excite, Exclusive, and Essence – designed to cater to a diverse range of consumer preferences. Launch, Booking Dates, and Pricing
MG Motor India has lined up a detailed launch schedule for the Windsor EV. The test drives are set to begin from 25th September, with bookings opening on 3rd October. Deliveries will commence on 12th October. With the base variant priced at an attractive Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Windsor EV makes its presence felt in the competitive electric vehicle market. However, the pricing model is unique, as customers will also have to pay an additional battery rental of Rs 3.5 per kilometre driven, offering a flexible pay-as-you-drive option.

Powertrain and Performance
All three variants of the MG Windsor EV are equipped with a front-mounted electric motor capable of delivering 136hp and 200 Nm of peak torque. This powerful motor is powered by a 38kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 331 km on a single charge, making it suitable for both city commutes and longer drives.

MG has ensured that each variant of the Windsor EV is loaded with features, catering to the needs of a variety of customers. Here’s a detailed look at the features packed into each variant:

1. Excite – The Entry-Level Variant
Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Excite serves as the base variant of the Windsor EV but is far from basic in terms of features. This model includes:

• Exterior and Interior: 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, flush door handles, and a glass antenna. The cabin is designed with fabric seats with a 60:40 rear seat split and reclining rear seats for added comfort.
  
• Technology and Infotainment: A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, paired with six speakers for a complete audio experience. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster and steering-mounted controls add to the high-tech feel of the interior.
  
• Safety and Comfort: Six airbags, ESP, hill-start assist control, hill descent control, front and rear disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, cruise control, auto climate control, and LED cornering lights. Convenience features include electrically adjustable ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and a 3.3kW portable charging cable.
  

2. Exclusive – The Mid-spec Variant
The price for the Exclusive variant is yet to be announced, but it builds on the Excite’s features with several significant upgrades

• Enhanced Technology: It boasts a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with OTA updates, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and connectivity through the MG App store. Other technological enhancements include a rearview monitor, digital key, and remote car lock/unlock.
  
• Interior and Comfort: Adds leatherette materials to the steering wheel, dashboard, and seats, plus an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Smart flush door handles and a rear armrest with a cupholder are also included for added luxury.
  
• Additional Features: 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, chrome window beltline, power folding ORVMs, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto-dimming IRVM, Wi-Fi connectivity, and multi-language voice commands.
  

3. Essence – The Top-End Variant
The Essence, the flagship variant, has its price yet to be revealed, but it encompasses all the features of the Excite and Exclusive variants, with several premium additions

• Luxury Upgrades: Features ambient lighting to enhance the cabin's ambiance, ventilated front seats for added comfort, and a glass roof that brings an air of spaciousness.
  
• Advanced Technology: Incorporates a PM2.5 filter for cleaner cabin air and is paired with an Infinity 9-speaker audio system for a premium sound experience.
  
• Charging Efficiency: Comes with a 7.4kW AC fast charger, providing a quicker charging option for those on the go.
