Ayushman Card Registration Made Easy: Ration Dealers, ASHA and Anganwadi Workers to Assist
Getting an Ayushman card has now become much easier for eligible families under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). To ensure that no deserving beneficiary is left out, the district health department has taken an important step by assigning the responsibility of Ayushman card registration to people working at the grassroots level. Ration dealers, ASHA workers , Anganwadi assistants, PHC Sakhis, community health officers and even pharmacists in rural areas are now authorised to help citizens create their Ayushman cards.
To support this initiative, around 1,156 operator IDs have been generated, and selected individuals are being trained to handle the digital registration process smoothly. This move is expected to reduce overcrowding at hospitals and health centres and make card issuance faster and more convenient for rural and urban families alike.
Free treatment worth ₹5 lakh every year
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, each eligible family is entitled to free medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh every year. This benefit can be availed at empanelled government and private hospitals across the country. One of the key features of the scheme is that every family member receives a separate Ayushman card, ensuring individual access to cashless treatment whenever needed.

Now, beneficiaries can simply visit their nearest ration dealer or contact ASHA workers and Anganwadi assistants to get their Ayushman card made. All Antyodaya ration card holders and pink and red ration card holders below the poverty line are eligible under the scheme. In addition, senior citizens above 70 years, Uttar Pradesh state employees and other ration card holders can also check their eligibility online and apply for the card.

The Ayushman card registration process is completely digital and can be completed using a smartphone. To apply, download the Ayushman app and select your preferred language. After logging in with your mobile number, choose the PMJAY scheme, followed by your state and district. Once you enter your Aadhaar number, the details of your family members will appear on the screen.
For family members who have not yet received a card, you can complete the e-KYC process by selecting the option provided, verifying Aadhaar through OTP and uploading a photograph. After successful verification, the Ayushman card can be downloaded directly on your phone.
