Ayushman Card Registration Made Easy: Ration Dealers, ASHA and Anganwadi Workers to Assist
Getting an Ayushman card has now become much easier for eligible families under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). To ensure that no deserving beneficiary is left out, the district health department has taken an important step by assigning the responsibility of Ayushman card registration to people working at the grassroots level. Ration dealers, ASHA workers , Anganwadi assistants, PHC Sakhis, community health officers and even pharmacists in rural areas are now authorised to help citizens create their Ayushman cards.
To support this initiative, around 1,156 operator IDs have been generated, and selected individuals are being trained to handle the digital registration process smoothly. This move is expected to reduce overcrowding at hospitals and health centres and make card issuance faster and more convenient for rural and urban families alike.
Free treatment worth ₹5 lakh every year
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, each eligible family is entitled to free medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh every year. This benefit can be availed at empanelled government and private hospitals across the country. One of the key features of the scheme is that every family member receives a separate Ayushman card, ensuring individual access to cashless treatment whenever needed.
The scheme covers a wide range of treatments, including hospitalisation, surgeries, diagnostics and medicines. This financial protection has proved to be a major relief for economically weaker families, especially during medical emergencies.
Special campaign to achieve 100% coverage
As per government directions, a special campaign is being conducted to ensure that all eligible families receive their Ayushman Bharat Golden Cards. Despite being eligible, many families still do not have their cards and are forced to visit health centres multiple times. To solve this problem, the government has expanded local-level support.
