Bank Holidays In January 2026

January begins with several bank holidays across different states. Banks will remain closed on 1 January for New Year’s Day in multiple cities including Kolkata, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Shillong and others. Additional closures follow on 2 January in parts of Kerala and Mizoram. On 3 January, banks in Uttar Pradesh will be shut for Hazrat Ali’s birth anniversary. Other holidays include 12 January for Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary in West Bengal, 14 January for Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu in several states, 15 January for Pongal and Uttarayan, and 26 January for Republic Day across most of the country.

February 2026 Bank Closure Dates
