If you withdraw funds during the year, the withdrawn amount earns interest only up to the month before the withdrawal. After that, no interest is applied to that portion.

Any new contribution made to your EPF account during the year starts earning interest from the first day of the following month. This continues until the end of the financial year on March 31.
Rounding off the interest
At the end of the year, the total interest calculated is rounded off to the nearest rupee before being credited to your account.
