For the financial year 2025-26, the interest rate has been set at 8.25 percent. This has brought some clarity, but the timeline for when the interest reflects in accounts still depends on a few steps.

When will EPF interest be credited

The process of crediting EPF interest does not happen immediately after the rate is announced. First, the Central Board of Trustees finalises the interest rate. This decision is then sent to the central government for approval.

Once the government gives the green signal, the EPF Organization begins crediting the interest to accounts. Based on past trends, this process usually takes around two to three months. In some cases, it may extend to July or even August.

It is also important to note that interest is not credited to all accounts at the same time. The update happens in phases, so some employees may see it earlier than others.
