Millions of EPF subscribers are eagerly waiting for the annual interest amount to be credited to their Provident Fund accounts. The interest rate remains unchanged from the previous year, bringing relief to salaried employees who rely on EPF as a long-term savings tool.

How EPF Interest Is Added

Many account holders assume that EPF interest is deposited every month. However, that is not how the system works.

EPFO calculates interest on the balance maintained in the account throughout the financial year and credits the total amount in one go. As a result, subscribers often see a sizeable increase in their PF balance when the annual interest is deposited.

How Much Interest Will You Receive?

The amount credited depends entirely on the balance available in your EPF account.
PF Balance: ₹1 lakh
  • Interest at 8.25%: ₹8,250
  • Total Balance After Credit: ₹1,08,250
PF Balance: ₹5 lakh
  • Interest at 8.25%: ₹41,250
  • Total Balance After Credit: ₹5,41,250
PF Balance: ₹10 lakh
  • Interest at 8.25%: ₹82,500
  • Total Balance After Credit: ₹10,82,500
The higher your PF balance, the larger the interest amount credited to your account.

How to Check Your PF Balance

Subscribers can easily verify whether the interest has been credited through multiple channels:
  • UMANG App
  • EPFO Member Portal
  • Missed Call Service
  • SMS Service
These platforms allow users to check their latest EPF balance and account details within minutes.

Don’t Panic If Interest Isn’t Visible Yet

EPFO does not credit interest to all accounts on the same day. The process is carried out in phases and may take several days or even a few weeks to cover all subscribers.

So, if someone you know has already received the interest amount while it is still not reflecting in your account, there is no need for concern. Your interest will be credited once the process reaches your account.
