Nationwide Bank Strike on February 12, 2026: Will Banks Stay Open or Closed?
Big news for bank customers across India. Major bank unions have announced a nationwide strike on Thursday, February 12, 2026, raising concerns about whether banking services will be available. While customers are eager to know if they can carry out transactions as usual, banks have issued updates that offer some clarity.
The protest is mainly against the government’s four new labour codes introduced in November. These codes are set to replace 29 existing labour laws. Bank unions claim the new rules are anti-worker, impose stricter conditions for trade union registration, and may affect employee rights. They are also demanding better work-life balance and a five-day workweek in the banking sector.
However, services may not run smoothly everywhere. Bank of Baroda has already informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that the strike could impact operations at some of its branches and offices if employees participate.
