PM Awas Yojana: Over 11 Lakh Families to Get Permanent Homes, Check Key Details
PM Awas Yojana has brought major relief for lakhs of families in Bihar, as more than 11 lakh households living in kutcha (temporary) houses are set to receive approval for permanent homes. The initiative is aimed at fulfilling the dream of homeownership for economically weaker families while strengthening rural development across the state.
The announcement was made by Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan , who said the Centre is committed to ensuring that every eligible poor family gets access to a safe and permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The move is being seen as one of the largest housing pushes in the state, with the objective of improving living conditions for low-income rural households.
He assured the Bihar government that the Centre would extend full support to help eligible families replace unsafe kutcha houses with durable pucca homes. Alongside housing, he also stressed that village infrastructure and basic facilities are being developed at a faster pace.
He highlighted the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which provides financial assistance to farmers in case of crop damage, and also acknowledged Bihar’s participation in the PM ASHA scheme for pulse procurement.
According to the state government, thousands of women have strengthened their incomes through the programme, and additional funding for rural development and employment is expected in the coming years.
The initiative is expected to provide safer housing, improved living standards, and greater social security for lakhs of underprivileged families across the state.
