PM SVANidhi Credit Card Launched:Street Vendors Eligible For ₹30,000 Interest-Free Loan
India’s street vendors and small shopkeepers are stepping into a new era of digital finance with the launch of the PM SVANidhi Credit Card in January 2026. Introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this initiative aims to make day-to-day business easier for small traders by providing quick, paperless access to working capital without collateral or heavy interest burden.
A Credit Card Designed for Street Vendors
The PM SVANidhi Credit Card is a specially designed RuPay credit card that caters to the daily financial needs of vendors and small shop owners. It is directly linked to the user’s bank account and UPI ID, allowing payments through QR codes just like any digital wallet.
One of its most attractive features is the interest-free period of 20 to 50 days, which enables vendors to buy goods, manage expenses, and rotate capital without worrying about extra charges. Initially, cardholders receive a credit limit of ₹10,000. With regular use and timely repayments, this limit can be enhanced to ₹30,000, helping businesses grow steadily. The card comes with a validity of five years, ensuring long-term support.
Eligibility Criteria
To make sure the scheme benefits genuine vendors, the government has set a few basic eligibility conditions. Applicants must be between 21 and 65 years of age and should not have any previous loan defaults. Only those vendors who have successfully repaid the second tranche of the PM SVANidhi loan and are eligible for the third loan of ₹50,000 can apply for this credit card. Registration with the local Urban Local Body (ULB) is also mandatory.
Documents Needed
Applicants must keep essential documents ready to ensure a smooth application process. These include an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Vendor Certificate (CoV), bank passbook, and an active UPI ID.
Online Application Process
Vendors can apply online by visiting the official PM SVANidhi portal. After entering and verifying their mobile number through OTP, applicants need to complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC, fill in vendor details, and select the bank linked to their account.
Offline Application Option
Those who are not comfortable applying online can visit their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or bank branch. Trained staff will assist in filling out the form and uploading the required documents.
Why the PM SVANidhi Credit Card Is Special
This card goes beyond short-term financial help. It encourages vendors to adopt digital payments, offers annual cashback of up to ₹1,200, and helps build a strong credit history. With an improved CIBIL score, vendors can easily access larger loans in the future turning small businesses into sustainable and growing enterprises.
