Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana trailer leaked? Clip shows Lord Ram aiming an arrow at the clouds; fans debate if it's real or AI-generated
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1 is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The makers have already unveiled a teaser of the film introducing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. Fans are now waiting for the trailer.
With anticipation surrounding the epic continuing to grow, a blurry video claiming to be a leaked snippet from the film's trailer recently went viral on social media, leaving fans wondering whether it was genuine.
The 11-second clip, featuring Ranbir as Lord Ram holding a bow and arrow, reportedly surfaced from a CinemaCon event and quickly went viral. Netizens started debating the clip, pointing out that the makers haven't shared anything about the trailer yet. While some alleged it was an AI-generated video, others felt it didn't appear real.
Other comments accompanying the video indicated that it had actually been filmed at one of the filmmakers' promotional events.
Ramayana Leak Video: Fact Check
Despite the buzz, numerous users highlighted a few inconsistencies in the footage and dismissed it as fake. Online fact-checks also suggested that the footage could have been AI-generated.
However, the makers have not yet issued any statement regarding the alleged leaked viral video.
According to reports, the trailer of Ramayana: Part 1
will be launched at a grand event in Los Angeles on July 14, 2026. However, the makers have not made any official announcement.Meanwhile, the teaser of Ramayana drew flak for its over-the-top VFX, with many comparing its visual style to The Lord of the Rings. Several viewers also criticised the VFX, CGI, and the design of some of the rakshasas that Lord Rama was shown fighting. The film's team later assured audiences that all shortcomings would be addressed before the film's release.
However, a content creator who visited the sets of Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming epic Ramayana has now made an explosive claim after purportedly speaking to crew members. Dhruv Parikshit, who creates content on films and cinema, recently visited the Ramayana sets and later claimed that the makers released a "nerfed" version of Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Rama glimpse to spark discussions and debates as "free marketing."
Earlier this week, the makers of Ramayana
In the comments section of one of the videos, he was asked about the VFX work and whether it was incomplete. He replied, "Yes, it was incomplete. But the vision they have, I genuinely can't put it into words. The scenes I witnessed there were on the level of Avatar. I'm not exaggerating, they're truly cooking something wonderful. The character designs and the world of Ramayana feel incredibly immersive."
The creator then added, "I also got a chance to talk to one of their VFX artists. He told me that the creators deliberately uploaded a nerfed version of the Rama glimpse. They had better versions of those scenes, yet they intentionally chose to release the incomplete ones. Why? Because discussions and criticism across the internet translate into free marketing."
However, by Thursday, Dhruv had deleted his reply to the original comment and posted another in its place.
"VFX pe kaam chal raha hai, and kaafi accha kaam ho bhi gaya hai. Humko kuch incomplete footages bhi dikhaye the, and I believe vo already complete ho chuke hain mahino pehle hi (Work on the VFX is ongoing, and it is good. We were shown some incomplete footage, but I believe it has already been completed). And bhai, character designs!! They're gorgeous! They're absolutely wonderful. It is more like a very beautiful fantasy world, but in an Indian setting. It is going to be a great theatrical experience," he wrote.
However, screenshots of his original comment soon started doing the rounds on the internet.
