Amid the investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary, investigators have found striking similarities with the 2025 Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, according to an NDTV report.

Police believe Siya and Chetan may have studied the murder plan allegedly hatched by Sonam Raghuvanshi before carrying out the crime. In both cases, the victims were allegedly pushed into a gorge by their partners. Investigators claim the accused also appeared to have learnt from the mistakes made in the Raja Raghuvanshi case by preparing stronger alibis and planning the crime more carefully.

For the unversed, Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based businessman, was found dead in a gorge near a waterfall in Meghalaya's Sohra area after he went missing during his honeymoon in 2025. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, was later arrested on charges of conspiring to murder him along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three hired killers.

In the Ketan Agarwal case, police allege that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary killed Ketan by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18.

"Multiple factors contributed to Siya's decision... there was not one factor but a combination of several factors that triggered her decision to eliminate Ketan Agarwal," an officer was quoted as saying by NDTV. Police also claimed the accused tried to avoid detection by creating alibis and that neither has shown signs of remorse. Both have been remanded to judicial custody till July 16.

Fresh findings in the investigation have also revealed that Siya and Chetan allegedly used coded language and nicknames to communicate in an attempt to evade surveillance after the crime. According to investigators, forensic recovery of deleted mobile phone data indicates that the two exchanged coded messages after Ketan's alleged murder, which police believe were intended to conceal details of the conspiracy.

Investigators are also examining an alleged Snapchat conversation between Siya and one of her friends. According to police sources, Siya allegedly asked her friend to share a copy of her Aadhaar card so a flight ticket could be booked, writing, "Send me your Aadhaar card to book tickets for a wedding that is never going to happen."

Police are probing whether the alleged flight booking was part of a plan to create the impression that wedding preparations were continuing, thereby diverting suspicion from the alleged murder conspiracy. Officials, however, said the authenticity of the alleged Snapchat conversation and its evidentiary value are yet to be established.

Meanwhile, a local court has remanded both accused to 14 days of judicial custody but rejected the police's request for an additional three days of custodial interrogation. Investigating Officer Manoj Pawar told the court that investigators wanted to question Siya and Chetan together to decode their alleged conversations, establish their motive and determine their individual roles in the conspiracy.

Police also informed the court that a panchnama had been conducted at the spot where Siya was suspected of tearing Ketan's passport, and her clothes had been seized as part of the investigation. Investigators further sought permission to conduct an identification parade before eyewitnesses.

During the hearing, the issue of conducting a narco analysis test also came up. The court observed that such a test cannot be conducted without the consent of the accused. Since neither Siya nor Chetan agreed to undergo the procedure, permission for a narco test was declined. The prosecution also stated that it did not consider a narco analysis necessary at this stage.

Meanwhile, Ketan's grandfather, Devichand Agarwal, passed away on July 4, nearly 16 days after his grandson's death, reportedly after suffering a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
