25 rescued after sudden flood traps Gujjar families in Sirmaur
Shimla: Twenty-five members of four Gujjar families were rescued after being trapped in the middle of the Jalmusa stream near Katasan in Nahan Assembly constituency of Sirmaur district due to a sudden rise in water levels amid heavy rainfall .
Following the alert, teams from the police, home guards , fire brigade, and administration rushed to the spot and launched a nearly three-hour long rescue operation. Police and home guard personnel carried out the evacuation, bringing everyone to safety one by one.
An NDRF team was also called and kept on standby to assist in the operation. The rescued people included a six-month-old infant, children, women, and men up to 45 years of age. Sirmaur SP Nishchint Singh Negi said that all individuals were safely evacuated and no casualties were reported.
