27L govt school students to get Vijaya Dairy milk
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said govt will soon supply milk from the state-owned Vijaya Dairy to over 27 lakh students of all govt schools and anganwadis .
He held a high-level review meeting at the secretariat and discussed the feasibility of the initiative, with animal husbandry minister Vakiti Srihari and senior officials. Discussions were held regarding milk consumption in the state, milk procurement, and payments due to dairy farmers .

Bhatti asked the officials about the current milk consumption in the state and directed them to prepare accurate statistics on the state’s total milk production. Officials were told to conduct field visits and identify the actual number of milch animals, calculate the actual milk production from them and submit a comprehensive report to him in the next meeting.
“There should be a clear policy regarding the price being paid for milk procured from dairy farmers. The farmers’ bills should be paid promptly without any pending dues. Also, payments for milk supplied to schools should be transferred directly by the welfare departments to the concerned agencies. This would ensure that no dues remain pending to farmers,” Bhatti said.
