49 UP players attendcamp at Green Park
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy camp commenced on Monday at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Arvind Kapoor and assistant coach Mohammad Amir Khan .
The camp, which aims to prepare the team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, saw the participation of 49 players out of the 58 named as probables.
Notably absent from the first day's session were UP's prominent players Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav, who are currently busy with national duties. Additionally, key players Yash Dayal and Mohsin Khan were also missing; Yash is dealing with personal matters, while Mohsin is recovering from an injury.
The camp also saw the absence of Aaradhya Yadav, Kartik Tyagi, Prashant Veer, and Siddhartha Yadav, who are currently attending trials with the Rajasthan Royals IPL team. They are expected to join the camp on Tuesday.
Talking to TOI, the head coach expressed optimism about the camp's commencement. "Today marks the first day of our Ranji Trophy camp and we have successfully established a positive atmosphere. While some of our key players are unavailable due to national commitments and some players are on IPL team trials we are focused on making the most of this red-ball cricket camp," Kapoor stated. He extended gratitude to the Green Park staff for their swift preparation of central wickets and practice net session, especially following the India A vs Australia A matches that concluded on Sunday night." he said
Kapoor said, "The camp concluded in the post lunch session after the boys sweated it out in the nets for four hours."
With a fresh start and a promising lineup, the UP Ranji team is gearing up for a competitive season ahead, aiming to make a significant impact in the domestic cricket circuit. UP will face Andhra Pradesh at Green Park stadium from Oct 15.
